See the Works of Yoshitomo Nara in His New Book 'Drawings: 1984-2013'

Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara’s acclaimed works can now be seen in the release of his most recent book, Drawings: 1984-2013. The work of Nara has become well-known for its colored pencil and acrylic style, which often utilizes rudimentary and accessible canvases such as stationery, envelopes, and inexpensive paper. Much of the artist’s appeal resides in his ability to combine Japanese cultural elements such as manga and anime with hints of American pop culture. The book’s inner workings include not only marquee pieces, but also never-before-seen pieces, pieces not seen in the artist’s catalogue raisonné and an essay by Masue Kato. The book also coincides with a large-scale exhibition at Blum & Poe, Los Angeles, which took place in spring of 2014. The book is available now at Amazon.
