Yayoi Kusama Named The World's Most Popular Artist

The Art Newspaper recently announced Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama’s eccentric “Infinite Obsession” show was the most visited exhibition of 2014. The 86-year-old’s signature polka-dotted sculptures and mirror installations attracted up to 9,000 visitors a day, as it toured major cities in South America and Central America. Overall the exhibition was seen by more than 2 million people, with Glenn Scott Wright of the Victoria Miro gallery going no to state, “Kusama is the only one of our artists who sells on every continent. She’s very rare in that she has this kind of credibility within the art world establishment, but she also has a very popular appeal.” Head over to The Independent to get more on the story.
